About us

We live in the Lake District with our 2 border collies and spend as much time as possible in the truly beautiful surrounding countryside and villages. We also know many of the restaurant and pubs, so can offer lots of local information to enhance your time in the Lakes whether you enjoy active or more leisurely pursuits!

Information

The neighbourhood

Our house was one of the first country houses built on the shores of Lake Windermere. We think it occupies THE best site on the lake!

Great views over Lake Windermere to the Langdales, Coniston Old Man, Wetherlam and Loughrigg.

We are at the foot of Wansfell Pike and close to the Fairfield Horsehoe,

The house is approximately  1 mile from Ambleside, 3 miles from Windermere, 4 miles to Bowness-on-Windermere, 5 miles to Grasmere and Rydal.

Getting around

The best way to get around is by car. You can walk to the ferry pier in less than 10 minutes, where you can take the ferry to many sites around Lake Windermere.

Taxi numbers are left in the house

There is a reliable bus service. The bus stop is at Waterhead.

Windermere railway station is 3 miles away. There’s a taxi rank just outside the station

Bicycles and boats can be rented locally
